TobiomimicthespinningprocessofBombyxmoriandthecompositionofnaturesilk,regeneratedsilkfibroin/sericin(RSF/SS)blendfiberswerepreparedbydry-spinningfromaqueoussolutionswithdifferentconcentrationsofCa2+atvariouspHvalues.ItwasfoundthattheadditionofSSintheRSFaqueoussolutionsignificantlyimprovedthespinnabilityandtheviscosityoftheblenddope.ThecompositefiberwithaRSF/SSmassratioof75/25showedabreakingstressupto57.6MPa,andrelativelyabundantβ-sheetcontent.TheconcentrationofCa2+hadlimitedeffectsontheviscosityoftheblenddopeandthediametersofcorrespondingfibers.Themechanicalpropertiesandtheβ-sheetcontentdecreasedwiththeadditionofCa2+.WiththedecreaseofthepHoftheblenddope,thediameteroftheblendfiberbecamelargerduetohigherviscosityofthedope.However,thepHoftheblenddopehadnoobviouseffectonthemechanicalpropertiesandtheβ-sheetcontentofthefibers.
