Inthepresentstudy,anexperimentalstudywasdonetomeasuretheresidencetimedistributionoftheBussKneaderbydigitalimageprocessingmethod(DIP).AftervalidatingthecorrectnessoftheDIPmethod,theinfluenceoftheoperatingconditionsontheresidencetimedistribution(RTD)oftheBussKneaderwasstudied.Furthermore,amathematicalmodel,basedontheBPneuralnetworktechnique,wasdevelopedtopredictandcontroltheRTDunderdifferentoperatingconditions.Thet-teststatisticalresultsdemonstratethatthenodifferencehypothesisbetweenthepredictedcurvesandtheexperimentaldatacanbeacceptedinthe95%confidenceinterval
