Crosslinkedamphotericstarches(CAS)withquaternaryammoniumcationicandcarboxymethylanionicgroupswerepreparedbyamicrowaveradiationmethod.TheiradsorptionbehaviorforCr(VI)wasinvestigated.Theresultsshowedthathighthedegreeofsubstitution(DS)ofmodifiedstarchwasfavorabletothesynthesisbythemicrowaveheatingandcrosslinkedamphotericstarchespreparedwithhighertheadsorptioncapacitythanbythedryingreaction.Theadsorptioncapacityincreaseswiththeincreasingcationicgroupsanddecreasedwithincreasingdegreeofsubstitutionofanionicgroups.TheadsorptioncapacitywasfoundtofollowtheLangmuirisotherm.
