Thetensilestrengthofflexiblecompositesexhibitslargescattermainlyasaresultofthecomplexityandinteractionoffailuremodes,andmanufacturinginduceddefects.Apracticalapproachindesignforstrengthofflexiblecompositeswhichusesascharacteristicvaluesforstrength,themeanvaluesofexperimentalresultsmayleadtoseriousmisinterpretationsconcerningfailureonset,andthereliabilitylevelisnotalsotakenintoaccount.Aprobability-basedfailure-predictionapproachislikelytobeamoresuitablemethodofovercomingtheabovementioneddifficulties.Inthispaper,theexperimentaldataareprocessedbyWeibulltheoryandWeibullmoduluswerecalculatedby2-parameterand3-parameterWeibulldistribution.Furthermore,therelationshipbetweenWeibullmodulusandmechanicalpropertieswasstudied.Theresultsshowthatthetensilestrengthofflexiblecompositesispreferredtobeexpressedwith3-parameterWeibullmodel.Comparedwiththeaveragestrength,itismorereasonablethatthe5-percentilevaluewasusedasthedesignstrengthasfarasreliabilitylevelisconcerned.
