Afacilewaytopreparecarbonnanosphereswithanarrowsizedistributionwasdeveloped.Polyacrylonitrile(PAN)/poly(methylmethacrylate)(PMMA)compositelatexeswerefirstsynthesizedbyseedmini-emulsionpolymerization.Then,thelatexeswereusedastheprecursorstopreparecarbonmaterialsviasuccessiveoxidizationandcarbonizationtreatments.DLS,TEM,AFM,XRDandRamanspectrometrywereusedtocharacterizethesize,morphologyandstructureofthenanoparticles.Theresultshowsthatcarbonnanosphereswithsizeslessthan50nmcanbeobtainedfromPAN/PMMAcompositelatexes.
